IN THE COMPANY OF WOMEN
Many of you, might be thinking…why do we have to celebrate women in 2017? Well, we love all human beings, but us women have not had it easy. To get the equal rights that we enjoy now in most countries, our ancestors had to fight very hard.
I want to celebrate our mothers, grandmothers, …they raised families, had jobs, sacrificed themselves for us women of the 21st century to have a better future! I also want to celebrate all the women from other countries who continue to fight the good fight to get equal rights for their daughters.
Life can be complicated at times and a lot is expected of the modern day woman: We are expected to be hardworking professionals and CEOs, entrepreneurs work long hours, go to yoga, keep the perfect body at the gym, look like a million dollars, be the perfect mother, lover and wife, keep the house impeccable, cook for our guests, and in other words, be Wonder Women! Everyone is free to do what makes them happy and to live the life they want and wish to live without having to bend to this modern society´s rules.
My mother worked very hard and educated me in being an independent woman and on being my own leader. That is the greatest gift she ever gave me. When I was growing up, she always told me:
“Study, have a career and be always economically independent so that you can always be free.”What a great lesson at such an early age right! Be free, whatever it takes, ’cause freedom is our greatest treasure in this world.
I want to celebrate all the inspiring female mentors I had in my life who brought the best out of myself and inspired me to follow my passion in life. I want to celebrate my outstanding girlfriends. I have been blessed, divinely blessed with wonderful crazy independent friends. We all live in different countries following our adventurous free spirits and might see each other very little, but our friendship is always there. What a great support system to have ! I can call them anytime to talk to them about anything that might be needed to be talked about with a good friend, and they always have the time to listen and to give me the best advice ever. If something bothers me, the best medicine is to talk to a good friend and let it all out! Afterwards it’s all easy and the solution to the problem is always clear. Thank you so much, amigas!
I want to celebrate all activists, pacifists, ecologists, philanthropists, missionaries, and women who work everyday with all of their love and passion in making a better world. I want to celebrate the women who are not famous, or who seem to just be “regular people,” that with great love and sacrifice raise their kids at the same time that have jobs and careers and who are excellent role-models for the children they are raising and I have one amazing woman in mind thank you Anupama for inspiring me.
I want to celebrate all those immigrant women who came to a foreign country risking their lives at the frontiers to work here 16 hours a day and send all of their money home so that their children can have a better life. I want to celebrate all the brave single moms who are both mother and father to their kids and who do an awesome job and double effort in parenting whole families by themselves. I want to celebrate women who have been victims of any kind of violence and who got out of it and give example that help is available and that you don´t have to be a victim, but a triumphant survivor. I want to celebrate those women who refuse to follow conventionalism and love to live life and follow their passions.
I want to celebrate straight women, gay women, bisexual women, transgender women and all of us who live true to ourselves and to who we are and fulfill the mission that we all came to do. I want to celebrate all strong, passionate, humanitarian, idealistic women who give their lives to service others and make this planet a better and more fair place. I want to celebrate all the wonderful men mentors in my life who support my entrepreneurship endeavors, creative adventures and philanthropist ideas about saving the world from it’s self I might have in using my experience and knowledge as a vehicle to give joy and love to the world.
I want to celebrate women of all nationalities and professions who want the best for the world and for other other women. Today, I´m celebrating you! (Mothers, friends, teachers, neighbors, students, fellow women warriors) We are all important, we are all one!
